During the entire afternoon Muhamed, a Palestinian boy was there, photographing the confrontation between the teenagers and the IDF. Standing with Muhamed was a real pleasure to me.

Mahmud Jabari is under sixteen, he was hunted by soldiers last Thursday the 14th of March during a confrontation between protesting Palestinian teenagers and military forces. This is the third time Mahmud had been detained and jailed.

An ambulance transferring a baby of ten days from Qalqiliya with respiratory distress was detained for about 20 minutes at Qalandiya CP., for about 20 minutes for inspection of the mother's belonging, checking documents & carrying the baby from a west bank stretcher to the Jerusalem stretcher. The ride itself between Qalqiliya and Qalandiya takes about one hour & a half.

Three women are pushing a wheel chair with a paralyzed child. They had to lift the chair to the sidewalk and pass through to the other side of the checkpoint while performing acrobatic moves between the fences, because the gates that are supposed to serve the handicapped were locked.

A fully armed IDF soldier and behind him, on the concrete blocks pictures of young Palestinian who were killed by the IDF. This week, since the beginning of the war in Gaza the fury and the army's response had escalated, plenty of shooting, stone throwing, gas, detainees and even one "Straw Widow procedure" on the top of a building, from where the soldier snipe at the children and guide the other soldiers.

The checkpoint is turning into a fortified site protected by walls in within walls, and the thousands of people who have to walk through the checkpoint every day by vehicle or foot, have now only one entrance left and it's becoming narrow.

Apart for their firearms, the soldiers were also armed with long ladders on which they climbed on rooftops which they had took over, and from there they observed and sniped at demonstrators. They also had pick-axe for cracking they way.

Shots of joy were heard from the direction of Qalandiya refugee camp, celebrating 48 years to the foundation of the Fatah. When the celebrations were over youngsters came out of the camp and threw stones at the checkpoint compound. A group of soldiers marched towards the refugee camp. In order to cross the busy street the soldiers fired at the center of the road, and alarmed vehicles on both sides stopped.

The soldiers returned from the refugee camp with Ahmen, who works at a Falafel stand and led towards the checkpoint while he was eating. For years, ever since his father was killed by IDF soldiers, he had been working to provide for his mother and young brothers. When people asked the soldiers why they were taking Ahmed they replied "He'll be back today after being interrogated". But he wasn't. On Thursday that followed his arrest the lawyer that his mother had hired found out that Ahmed was being held at Ofer (a detainee's camp) and was accused of throwing stones and molotov bottles.

On the road that was empty, while the sound of shooting was deafening and threatening, and the air was mixed with dust and smoke, stood Haled looking for buyers even when there were none, trying to earn another Shekel by selling another package of chewing gum, because he has a quota he must meet and must not dare go home before completing it.

A mother and her 4 months old baby from Jenin waited for over half an hour for another ambulance which will take them from Qalandiya to a hospital in Jerusalem. The ambulance has arrived but the soldiers kept inspecting and detaining the new born and his mother, with repeated inspections of the permits that had been handed hours in advance.
