Afternoon

Tura Checkpoint:

We are tired of reporting on the army-generated rubbish at the checkpoint.

15:00 – Barta’a Checkpoint

A novelty:  we were stopped on the Palestinian side of the checkpoint and asked us to present our identity cards.

The parking lots were full on the Palestinian side, though it felt less crowded than usually. Perhaps this is a sign that the Feast of the Sacrifice is approaching.

15:20 – Ya’bed-Dotan Checkpoint

The traffic is thin and cars pass through without inspection. We didn’t see soldiers from Sayeret Givati, whose flags were waving at the checkpoint, but an officer and a soldier from the Border Patrol were there. They wanted to hear about us:  who we were and what we were doing at the checkpoint.

We returned to Barta’a Checkpoint

16:00 – Barta’a Checkpoint

We were stopped again at the checkpoint when we returned; they checked our identity cards and sent us to the vehicle inspection area.  After we passed all the inspections, we saw that there was a stream of workers starting their return home after the day’s work.

And again, we dcannot understand why they need to walk through such a long corridor to get to the other side.Is it harassment?

16:30 – Tura-Shaked Checkpoint

A quiet and superfluous checkpoint. We are tired of talking about the filth at the checkpoint. A man who was waiting for a ride home (to the Seamline Zone) had told us of their difficult life when there is no work, when people are nearly starving, and he was one of them.
