Afternoon

15:30. Yabed-Dothan checkpoint

Traffic streams alongside military vehicle traffic.

We bought stuff in the grocery at Amriha: olive oil, coffee with cardamom, tea, and diapers for the invalid daughters of Amjad, from the village of Yamun. He has completed four more days of hospitalization following the severe wounding of his hand.

16:25. Barta’a-Reihan checkpoint

All the carparks are full of cars, and many drivers are hunting for passengers to all parts of the West Bank. A delightful coffee seller with mischievous eyes, a 4th-grade pupil, is pleased with some coins we give him, which he has no intention of giving to his mother. On the way out we were asked to present our identity cards and to wait on the red X. The documents were returned after many minutes. While we were waiting, a security guard approached and asked if we were interested in what was written about us. We answered vaguely, but he surprised us by referring us to an academic article written by Dalit Yasour and Helena Sina.

Finally, we were sent to the vehicle checking station to check the bags of purchases we had brought from Amriha.

17.10 Tura-Shaked checkpoint

Deserted and filthy, to the glory of the I.D.F.
