Tear gas wakes sleeping families at 4 AM

During our shift today, we spoke with a resident of Qalqilya who reported that soldiers entered the city at 4 AM today and began firing tear gas grenades in all directions. Small children in the homes weren’t able to breathe. Parents grabbed the children and placed them in the bathtub with running water in an attempt to clear the air.

A second person confirmed the report. He woke at 4 AM to the odor of tear gas and heard his one-year-old baby wheezing.

The two men asked why was tear gas fired into a sleeping neighborhood far from the homes of four men who were later arrested. “They knew the location of the wanted men. Why did they have to fire tear gas everywhere and make our infants and children wake up choking?!”

Indeed – Why?!
