Study in Qira

9:45  We left Rosh Haayan train station with Rachel Afek and Riki in Nadim's car.
10:15 Nitza and I entered the Women's Club and Rachel and Riki went on to Zeita.  I began teaching a beginners lesson to all the women (about 8 plus 4 teenagers who came because their school was closed due to the Teachers' strike).
This lesson was short, about 10 minutes and dealt with basic words.  Then Nitza, who taught the women of Qira last May and June, returned to Israel after making a lecture tour in the States.  She showed the results of her own scarf printing, which was like the project she made with the women and teens of Qira.
She used her scarves as props for her explanation about her family's heritage.  She is a convert to Judaism as well as being from a family of conversos or crypto Jews who trace their lineage from the Spanish Jews  who were expelled during the inquisition of 1492.The group were very interested in her story and happy to see her again.
I continued with teaching advanced English while Nitza helped the teens to understand English books which she brought for them.
11:30 As Rachel noted, we then went on to the village of Ezbet Tabib
