Bethlehem, 15:00.
Very light traffic, and few people, in
both directions. All were processed quickly and efficiently. The
Russian border policemen, so hostile last time, seemed to have
cooled down, and was letting people through very
quickly.

El Khadr, 16:00:
Hundreds of people trying to get through
to the Husan side. In the time we were there, we saw only two
turned back (because they were from Hebron, we were told). There
were 7 detainees who had tried to circumvent the checkpoint. At
about 16:30, some shots were heard in the distance. The officer
ordered the soldiers to close the checkpoint, but it soon started
drizzling and it was soon reopened.
