Ar-Ram, 15:45. Long line of
cars and a large group of detained men who were being prevented
from returning to Ramallah because they didn't have permits to go
into Jerusalem in the first place. Their IDs were checked against
some list, and then they were sent on their way. They had been held
between 1/2 to 1 hours. The soldiers were quite civil and business
like.

Qalandya: Many people, and the checking efficient. The commander
wanted to tell us how difficult his job is and how his soldiers are
misunderstood and misrepresented. He also complained that the new
group of volunteers was holding up the line by trying too hard to
be nice and talking too long with the Palestinians. About 20 men
were sitting behind a low wall at the CP. They asked for water.
They were caught in Tora Bora and were being punished. One said he
had gone to Ramallah to buy his daughters school uniforms. The
girls passed, but he couldn't, so he tried to go around. Now he was
worried about his daughters and whether they were waiting for him
for hours. Another had an eye infection, and needed to see a
doctor.
