16:25. As we arrived, M. was just being
detained, his car keys confiscated once again. The commander, O.,
sent us to the other end of the pathway. A depressing afternoon,
aggressive soldiers yelling impatiently at everyone standing in
line, having their papers checked first manually, then through the
electronic gate, and once more by volunteers. It was very hot, and
tension was high. Someone whose ID card was taken at 14:30 got it
back at 17:30, after a lot of nagging on our part. A 43 year old
man who lives at Khizme was let through, after an hour and a half
wait. All young people, men and women were sent back. No one
without an ID card was allowed through, birth certificates were not
accepted. "What about children?" "These will stay
here and those will stay there", was the answer.

17:30 A mother, daughter and sister from Bethlehem aren't let
through. After much pleading by us and crying by them, the two
older ones were let through, much later.

18:45 S. says he's given orders to return the car keys to M. -- but
they are not. S. says the police are on the way (which he had told
us two hours before as well).

At 20:35, M. has not seen the police yet and is still waiting for
his keys.
