6:30am. 2 detaineesinfo-icon sitting near the
wall next to the gas station. There were 2 border policemen and
officer, A. He told us to call him if there is any problems.
Concerning the detainees, he said their IDs need to be checked, and
it might take a while because on Sunday morning the system is slow.
The soldiers forbade us to talk to the detainees. We said that
every one has the right to see an attorney. They asked whether one
of us is a lawyer, and we said yes. After a second of thought they
said we could talk to them. The Palestinians said they had been
detained for an hour already. The soldiers said that they were
detained max 15 min. since they (the soldiers) only arrived at the
place at 6:00 am. The detainees didn't have permits. One who works
at Augusta Victoria Hospital can't get a permit because he was once
arrested (for curfew violation). At the upper part of the wall, the
gate is still closed. People said that Saturday was very difficult
and unpleasant, the army used gas, although there were many
children around. The scene can only be described as surreal. Lots
of people, old, young, men and women cross the wall by climbing on
a pile of stones. The soldiers stand on the top of the pile,
behaving politely. Back at the gas station, the 2 detainees were
still there. We called A. and 15 minutes later he showed up with
their IDs and warned them not to try again.
