Long car line, but checking is cursory, andwaiting time is about seven minutes. We drove past Ar-Ram, but didn't stop. There were nolines.Qalandiya. There's a lively market at the southernentrance to the CP, and people keep arriving andputting up new stalls, selling coffee, bagels, vegetables and fruits from Jericho, greenhouse plantsetc. The soldiers don't interfere. There were two detaineesinfo-icon at the CP, young men livingin Bethlehem on their way back home from Ramallah. They didn't have permits, and were refused passage. They then tried to bypass the CP through the quarry, and were apprehended by soldiers. According to them, they were waiting already for one and a half hours;they didn't have enough money for taxi fares to Surda. The CP commander was willing enough to talk to us.According to him, once their IDs were checked with theGSS, they would be released. And indeed, their IDswere returned to them within 15 minutes, and they weresent back to Ramallah.
