Bethlehem, Al-Khadr, Tuesday, 30.11.04 AMObservers: Suli F, Yehudit E, Yehudit R (Reporting)Guests: a Swedish student, Tali6:45 Bethlehem Checkpoint 300Hardly any pedestrians passing the checkpoint. Very few cars. The road between the crossroad to the checkpoint has been widened and reasphalted. On our leaving the checkpoint, 4 men get off a taxi and approach us. They all had valid permits that had been issued before 11.11.04, came from Al-Khadr, were let through the Tunnel Road checkpoint, but were stopped later but border policemen took their Ids, claiming that permits that were issued before that date are not valid any more. 7:15 Al-KhadrNo army presence and thus the usual taxis, pedestrians and school children going about their business. Two brothers approach us and tell us that their Ids were confiscated by border policemen in Bethlehem, not far from Rachel’s tomb, outside the area that was annexed to Jerusalem by the Separation Wall. We are trying to find out how they can be helped. 7:40 The road to Husan and back to the Green LineThe eastern entrance to Husan is open.
