Afternoon

After a phone call for help, we set out at 16:00, to discover that there was no passage from either direction in the tunnel under the Trans-Samaria highway that connects the two villages. A long line of cars had been waiting for four hours to cross from Mas’ha to Issawiya, and a few cars and people were waiting to cross from Issawiya to Mes’ha. We received a chilly and restrained reception from the soldiers, headed by Lieutenant Yoni. However, our insistence on getting closer to events, our talks with the Palestinians, and a few phone calls to the DCO and the brigade commander, seemed to work (according to the locals, until we arrived nothing has moved, and as soon as we arrived they began to check and pass people through). When we left at 18:20, almost everyone had got through. Our presence on the spot is needed, and we should be on the spot as much as possible.
