By the Cinemateque, a blue police car was checking IDs of Palestinian-looking passersby. We did not stop. At Bethlehem there were about 8 soldiers and 2 jeeps, and precious little traffic. Bethlehem-bound cars seemed all to have "professional Christians" in them -- nuns and priests, and were all let through. Stopping next at El Khadr, there were about 5 regular army soldiers there, and all was quiet. Few pedestrians, all moving freely, and a green-plate bus apparently waiting for passengers to Hebron. Altogether a quiet shift.
