A lot of traffic at E-Ram. People seem to go by rather quickly. At Qalandya south there were no soldiers checking pedestrians, and hundreds of people went north. On the north side it is a different story. The queue was long, five or six soldiers were checking, one of them made sure that people will not go through the pass without the check. Yet, it was relatively quick and it looked as if the soldiers are letting people through with the help of some common sense. We went to our weekly chat with some Taxi drivers at Qalandya. We met Ali who offered us his taxi for Surda, telling us that he is the one to take other shifts as well, and that it is not safe for us to be there without him, so that he will stay with us and take us back.Back to Qalandya. No queue for southbound pedestrians, a very long one for the cars. A big furniture truck was being unloaded in the checkpoint itself, for a security check. When we stood inside the checkpoint to be checked for going back, one of the volunteers (older unpleasant guy) shouted at us that we should not stand there but go around since we are "not Arabs"... We told him that we always go from the checkpoint but didn't argue.
