At 8:00 a.m., on the last day of the holiday, there were very few people at either E-Ram or Qalandya. Within the next hour, the checkpoint filled with people in holiday garb, and most passed through. At Torah Bora, there was active pursuit of people, and many i.d.'s were taken, but were returned relatively quickly. To our surprise, a young, religious Arabic speaking reserve captain spoke with us about the matter of confiscating i.d.'s illegally, a matter which he seems incapable of controlling. He assisted in the transport of a woman who returned from hospital in Ramallah and was in need of help since the person who was to accompany her had been caught and had his i.d. taken. At E-Ram, we were approached by Jamal, attendant in charge of transits in Qalandya to see if any progress had been made in the matter of parking areas. We had no news to report to him.
