The way to Abu Dis, along the old city was difficult, with a lot of traffic. The checkpoint itself also very busy, crowded - everybody trying to get home to break the fast. Some of them were carrying plastic plates with Hummus and fallfel to break the fast before they get home. No special hastle from the border policemen, even though the girl border policewoman was pretty unpleasant to us. They put a wall next to the gas station, calling it closed military area. There was a bit of a commotion when a cement mixer pulled down a telephone line, tilting over the telephone pole which hit a young girl. She was in shock. An ambulance was called and by the time it came to the other side she was able to walk with the paramedics to the other side through the mosque. We were wandering what would have happened if she were more severely wounded - a stretcher all around through the mosque?
