Case No. 1: Munzer Muhammad Mahmoud Abu Warda
Since we entered the courtroom after the hearing began, I relate only to the part during which we were present. The defence attorney gave his summation, which emphasized the need to transfer the case to the prosecution. The police investigator confirmed the judge's words: "Yes, the suspect has already been detained for 35 days of investigation".
The judge listened to the attorney and asked him what he was requesting.
Excerpt from the attorney's words: The detainee has admitted his role in the affair in question and has been interrogated regarding all the details. He is being held in solitary confinement and has started a hunger strike. (We do not know the details, or how long he has been on hunger strike.) Attorney Sabbah requested, on behalf of the detainee, to remove him from isolation and to transfer the file to the prosecution, for trial.
Summing up, the judge decided: "Due to the severity of the case and the specific need to clarify the matter in question, we must suffice with four more days of interrogation, and then transfer the case to the prosecution".
Cases 2 and 3 were closed following an agreement between the parties.
In the other case the police asked for 15 days, and the judge decided on 11, while in the third case the judge acceded to the request of the police.
