Etzion DCL

This was a quiet and normal shift, with the usual problems and “solutions”

A man came out and told us that he had been sent by the Palestinian liaison office  to the Etzion DCL and now he had been sent from Etzion back to the Palestinian office. A young chap told us that he was summoned to a meeting at the GSS (general security service) and had waited 6 hours until he was taken inside. Two women were taken inside immediately on their arrival, and came out after a short time waving the magnetic cards that they had received.

We travelled to meet  a Palestinian whose work permit was about to expire in a few days and who had been refused a  renewal.  He is the only bread-winner of his and his invalid brother’s families. “I don’t know why they don’t want to renew (the permit).  I haven’t done anything wrong” he told us when we met.  Then he told us that he had contacted a lawyer in Jerusalem, and asked us to take a sum of money that he owed the latter to his office in Jerusalem. When we returned  to Jerusalem, we found the office and handed over the payment.
