05:50  We’re at the checkpoint to confirm that things have really gotten better.  The lines are short, all three lanes and all the inspection booths are open and operating.  A staff of two police officers, the regular policeman and the checkpoint commander as well as four soldiers and guards are located in the inner courtyard.  The regular policeman keeps moving among the inspection booths to insure that everything is working – and quickly.  The humanitarian gate is open; no one approaches us with a complaint.  If things really continue this way, then they’ve drawn the right conclusions and people may be able to get to work on time, considering the restrictions we’re all aware of.
