Afternoon
Seriously? Does this make us safer?

14:15 pm, Etzion DCL:  twenty people crowded near the turnstile in the hall.  They told  us that ten people had been waiting inside for a long time.  Apparently the soldiers were having their midday rest.  We contacted the humanitarian office – they promised to help.

14.40  We again phoned to the office because no-one had come out.

14.45  A woman came out and after her a young man who had waited since 6:00

15.05  Two more people who had also waited since 6 am came out

15.15  A young man who had waited since 9 am came out.  After him another

seven people came out , one after the other    .

16.15  All the people waiting in the hall were taken inside.

16.40  Three people came out.  One of them told us that he had been refused an

entry permit to Jerusalem for his mother-in-lawwho had a paralysed face, and who had an appointment for treatment at “Hadassah” on the next day. She was told that she was refused because “she can apply to a doctor in Bethlehem”.  Why was she refused ?

What did those who refused her fear ?  What damage would have been caused to the State of Israel from this woman’s visit  ?

Shlomit made many telephone calls, and spoke with “Hadassah”. After many calls and after Faxes were received, the man was told that that he would receive the permit , but he would have to wait.

In the meantime, the DCL was closed, and captain Nevili locked the doors so that the man was forced to wait outside. It was cold but Nevili didn’t hurry to give him the permit.  Maybe she went to eat her supper.  Only close to 7 in the evening was he given the permit.

An elderly man was waiting in the cold and darkness to get back his ID, papers, keys and money which had been taken from him.  He also had to wait until a late hour and eventually he was told that his ID and other belongings were apparently located at the “Offer” camp, and he should try to get them back there.
