14:30 Eliyahu gate. Light traffic in both directions.
Tapuach junction. People leaving Nablus are selected randomly for inspection.
Much traffic in both directions.
Mu’in (denied a permit by the GSS) arrives, signs papers, kisses the banknotes
before giving them to us and Karin films him with a video camera, in Hebrew and in Arabic.
Huwwara. Traffic flows in both directions. No unusual events. Polite soldiers
come over to find out what we’re doing here.
Awarta merchandise checkpoint. Two soldiers at the checkpoint. No trucks.
Beit Furik checkpoint. A soldier in the tower observes the very sparse traffic.
We return via the Madison route toward Huwwara, and from there on Route 5.
