Irtah

07:00 – The whole area is very crowded,
there is no room and many cars stand outside.

The workers complain that although they
arrive at 05:00 in the morning, they leave at 07:00 as only 2 inspection
posts operate. Itsik, the security officer, explains that they usually
open at 04:30 and finish at 06:45. During that time they check 3600
workers. But today they have had a setback. At 07:00 they check prisoners'
families and because of that the workers have to wait. The operator
opens only 2 inspection posts because it doesn't pay to open more. (The
time of thousands of workers is not taken into consideration).

Jubara

07:40 – There is no key. Somebody goes
to bring one. We will be back later.

Anabta

08:15 – One can see the holes left
from the uprooting of olive trees in the area surrounding the checkpoint.
We strike up a conversation with the soldiers, who are willing to talk,
but the commander who suddenly shows up forbids it.

There are no checks at the entrance and
random checks at the exit, causing a line to build up.

Ar-Ras

10:00 – The key has arrived!

We see that one lane is closed and the
soldiers explain that things that Yael S. said the day before convinced
them to let all vehicles go the better and more suitable lane.

The checkpoint is empty. Once in a while
a car passes without being checked.
