13.30  Hermesh checkpoint

The checkpoint is manned by soldiers of Netzah Yehuda brigade. Cars are checked. There is not much traffic and no traffic jams form. Soldiers approached us to ask what we were doing there. They have spikes that they can, when necessary, put on the road to stop cars.

13.45 Yabed-Dotan checkpoint

Netzah Yehuda flags wave in the rain. Traffic is free, we do not see soldiers.

14.00  Barta’a-Reihan checkpoint

On the Palestinian side, the truck parking lot is full. Drivers wait to be checked in order to pass to Barta’a. They are bringing goods to Barta’a market. Each time 5 trucks enter for checking – which takes an hour and a half.

We went up to the upper parking lot, where we met a number of workers who repeated their request for a shelter from rain and sun. A month ago the deputy director of the checkpoint promised to deal with the matter, but so far nothing has happened.

14.45 Tura-Shaked checkpoint

The checkpoint is sleepy, as usual. One car and a few pedestrians pass.

The surroundings look cleaner than usual, but there is still a lot of scattered litter.

15.05 A’anin checkpoint

A tractor loaded with salvage, and a number of people sheltering from the rain in the shed.  Someone has even lit a fire to warm himself.

The soldiers arrive on time and all the people pass quickly. The tractor is held back and its contents checked. Only after a few telephone calls and a delay, is it permitted to pass.
