Surprisingly, the passage from Neve
Yaacov to Beit Hanina was blocked by a barbed wire fence, probably
just installed. A Ram: The entire area is blocked. Many pedestrians
and cars stuck in the checkpoint. Cars may not pass at all.
Pedestrians are passed, but the checking is very slow. Pupils
descend from the transporting buses and continue by foot. We were
told that all the northern checkpoints are closed. In Neve Yaacov
and the French Hill we encountered border police checkpoints along
the way.
