Nothing new to write home about.

Except for the new sign on Shuhadah Street on the wall of the Moslem cemetery, courtesy of the Jewish settlement in Hebron.  A “clarification,” for anyone who doesn’t know:  “Palestine never existed (and never will).”

Soldiers maintain a low profile everywhere.  ‘Abed, whose shop is near the Cave of the Patriarchs, tells us the holiday passed quietly; settlers shook his hand and wished him a happy holiday…

The excavation at Tel Rumeida has expanded greatly.  The foreman (a non-Jew) asked whether we were interested in an explanation from the archaeologists.  We weren’t.  The laborers said work would continue for two more months.

Soldiers have again blocked the entrance to Al-Fawwar from the Dura Al-Fawwar junction.  “Children threw rocks,” people told us.

We waited.

They opened the gate in a few minutes but they’re detaining and inspecting cars.
