Shaked-Tura Checkpoint, 07:30-08:00

There is traffic in both directions of pedestrians, cars, and herds of goats.  There appears to be no delay in crossing the checkpoint.  There are more soldiers than usual who make sure we stand in the correct place and take an interest in how we are doing.  Three teenagers stand in a row opposite the soldiers.  When we ask what is going on the soldiers tell us that the young men have no permits and were therefore sent back to the West Bank, where they came from. One man is in a hurry and is angry and asked for our telephone number.  He later called and said that he was having trouble getting a permit to visit his family  He is from Ein Sahaal and has married and gone to live in Yaabed.  We referred him to the Association for Individual Rights.

Reihan-Barta'a Checkpoint, 08:10-08:35
There is a lot of pedestrian and vehiclular traffic at the checkpoint, moving quickly.  There is only one window operating in the terminal but that appears to be sufficient.  A truck bearing the name of the  Meggido Regional Council returns after dumping garbage in the West Bank. It is now empty but smells strongly of garbage.  This is the first time I have ever seen this on Saturday or any day….

The shift ended early because we were helping a woman who had crossed over.
