Artach

6:30 a.m.

There is no queue outside.  The labourers who exited early said that the inspection was relatively quick, about half an hour.  At the exit there is a torrent of people complaining of the crush in the rooms and of the inspection which takes at least an hour.  One of them summarised it thus:  at first, between 4:30 and 6:00 a.m., people move through faster and afterwards everyone has to be inspected, so the crush is greater in the rooms and it takes a long time.

Jebara

7:00 a.m.

The key to the gate is broken (it broke in the lock).  The IDF does not give priority to Israelis crossing through it; although it is permitted (Jebara belongs to Israel).

1.  We asked if we could reach the gate from the back, on the security road, it is possible but only with a military vehicle and they don't have one free at the moment.

2.  We phoned the Ephraim DCO representative who is located in Jerusalem, Yakir is his name.  He has no idea which gate we are talking about.  Finally he promised to deal with it in future.

3.  The roadblock commander, who wanted to help, said he would try and get a locksmith.  We promised to return in an hour.

We drove to Anabta - totally deserted.

Dir Sharef/Hachaviot
- in fact it doesn't exist.

The road to Jenin - it is barred because of road works and will be open in a week and a half.

Back to Jebara:  the gate is still closed.
