We turned off route 356 to the village of Ad Deirat and from there to a place called Huwwara or “Sha’ab al Mr’ar.” To see the well which was filled with cement and the "buildings" that were demolished. One was demolished this morning. Another one nearby was demolished last week. This is Area C. People showed us their applications for permits. None were approved. Although it’s their land it’s too close to the Ma’on settlement.

May-30-2013
There is fire in the fields between the village of Assira al Qibiliya and the settlement of Yitzhar. A Palestinian fire extinguishing vehicle arrived but the army prevented it from continuing. On top of the hill, the settlers try to extinguish the fire, it seems they are afraid it will reach their fields. The army enables them to extinguish the fire. A line of soldiers stands opposite the Palestinian crowd and does not permit them to approach the fire and the settlers.

Oct-25-2013
300 people living in Nabi Samuel, all of them in 10 houses most of which have only one room. Today’s residents once lived in more comfortable houses at the top of the hill around the ancient mosque, but in 1971 they were evacuated by the Israeli Authorities who allowed them to occupy the shacks further down the hill that had been abandoned by Palestinians who fled during the 1967 War. The people of Nabi Samuel are not allowed to build or develop their village which is located on land that has been decreed a National Park. One of the residents showed us a copy of a decree issued in 2005 which prevents planting of trees on the land of the National Park. (MW report 11.03.2013)

Horses are beeing detained too at the agricultural gate. We called the humanitarian office and the Tulkarm DCO. Tedesa explains that animals can go through only at the Eliyahu crossing because they need the type of permits required at an international border crossing.

Jan-25-2013
We entered the village of At Deirata on route 356, south of Zif junction. To see the ruins of a house that was demolished yesterday by the civil administration of the IDF. The “logic” behind the demolition is that the building was on private property and hadn’t received permits because they weren’t included in the village “authorized outline plan”…but the village doesn’t have an “authorized outline plan.” And does anyone really believe that if they’d asked for a permit they’d have received one?
