Morning

As reported in the December 4, 2019 report, Bir Hadaj is a recognized village that suffers from a total lack of infrastructure and services and also the inability for residents to build legally because there is no master plan. This is despite the authorities' promises previously to allocate land to residents so as to allow them to function as a settlement. The authorities have withdrawn these promises and the village is suffering from periodic house demolitions.

Demolition orders for all houses in the village are accompanied by severe violence against the residents, and many arrests. The intention of the authorities is to make the village into a town and thereby not allow the residents to have their entire lands which were promised to them for farming. Most residents earn their living from agriculture and they have no skills to make a living in an urban setting.

It was decided to adopt a public and judicial struggle, as well as demonstrations throughout the Negev to get support and solidarity. We participated on behalf of Standing Together-Machsomwatch and to demonstrate in Ar'ara in the Negev, not far from Dimona.
