Hebron: Because of the Corona, the city is quiet
First day of the Passover week
An outstanding Jewish day.
Every year the Muslim Qaqf and the Civil Administration
’s rabbi set the prayer arrangements at the Cave of the Fathers on days holy for Jews and Muslims. On such days, both the large and the small halls there are allowed for prayer by only one religion.
Passover week is an outstanding time for Jews and prayer is then allowed in the Cave of the Fathers for Jews only.
During the Ramadan, there will be days outstanding for Muslims.
This year, because of the Covid pandemic, the city is not overrun by buses. Plenty of pilgrims though. The Cave of the Fathers car-park is filled to capacity with private vehicles. Palestinian Hebron is overrun by the pandemic, and has no vaccinations.
The Jewish settler-colonists are afraid to catch it, so there is hardly any friction between them and the Palestinians.
The Israeli army, too, has lessened its presence. The 16 checkpoints are manned as usual, but there are hardly any passers-by.
The Palestinians’ streets are practically deserted…

היום הראשון לחול המועד פסח .
יום חריג יהודי .
הוואקף המוסלמי והרב של המינהל האזרחי קובעים כל שנה את הסדרי התפילה במערת המכפלה, בימים הקדושים ליהודים ולמוסלמים . בימים אלה האולם הגדול והקטן שבמערת המכפלה מותרים לתפילה רק לבני דת אחת .
חול המועד פסח הוא ימי חריג יהודי והתפילה במערת המכפלה מותרת רק ליהודים .
בימי הרמדאן יהיו ימי חריג מוסלמים.
השנה בגלל הקורונה העיר לא מוצפת באוטובוסים. מלאים עולים לרגל . מגרש החניה של מערת המכפלה מלא במכוניות פרטיות . הקורונה קיימת בחברון הפלסטינית ואין חיסונים.
המתנחלים פוחדים להידבק ולכן אין כמעט חיכוכים בינם לבין הפלסטינים.
גם הצבא הפחית מהנוכחות שלו . 16 המחסומים מאוישים כרגיל רק שאין כמעט עוברים ושבים .
