Afternoon

12:15 – A’anin Checkpoint
We arrived 15 minutes late. The soldiers were already there but were evidently waiting
for us and opened the checkpoint when we arrived. About a dozen people and one
tractor crossed immediately without being checked.
12:45 – Tura – Shaked Checkpoint
One person crossed in each direction. We wanted to leave, but we saw a car waiting to cross to the West Bank. There was no line and no reason for delay. We got out of the car and miraculously the metal arm was raised and the car crossed. The litter of rags,
plastic, and curtains remained. Perhaps we have some influence after all and our arrival causes the soldiers to spring into action.
13:10 – Barta’a – Reihan, Palestinian Side
There was no traffic at this hour and the parking lot was full. The vehicle belonging to the Palestinian security company has a reserved parking spot surrounded by a chain. The area is very clean. A man asked for donations of toys for the kindergarten that he runs.     We left at 13:30. 8 loaded trucks were waiting in the parking lot near the vehicle
checkpoint. Another truck loaded with cans of cola, was waiting in the large parking lot. All the merchandise was designated for East Barta’a.
