Morning

10:40 a rainy day. Over 30 cars in the parking lot. More than 100 people in the waiting room. The machine issuing numbers to the people standing in line broke down, but the Palestinians managed to overcome the problem and organized an orderly queue. They handed out numbers to people upon arrival and took their identity cards. Then they called their names and let them in, in order of their arrival. We tried to find out what caused the heavy load. It turned out that it was partly caused by the rain. Because of the rain people didn’t go to work and used the opportunity to come to DCL to receive a magnetic card, without losing a day's work. But we were told that yesterday too, the hall was filled to capacity, even though it was a normal working day. It seems that the heavy load was caused by the fact that many cards were issued at once and they all expired at the same time. If this is the reason, a heavy load is expected in the coming weeks and soldiers will have their hands full. To the credit of one of the soldiers it has to be said that he came over and asked if people were waiting for entry permit, GSS or police and when they approached, he told them that they do not have to

stand in line. Before we left, a young man approached us and said that his brother in-law was injured while working at the plant in Beitar Illit, and was hospitalized in Jerusalem. He asked for advice on how to arrange his sister's permit to enter Israel so she could stay near her husband. We gave him a friend’s phone number so she might help.
