Morning

Our conflict with the Palestinians looks like a picture without humans…

The car parks around Meitar checkpoint are filled to bursting with cars, some parked on the roadside. People continue to cross for work in Israel, although some of them will not be able to return home, because the Palestinian Authority has placed checkpoints and barriers at the entrances to towns, for fear of the coronavirus.

We see a boulder barrier at the Sheep Junction, and at the entrance to Hebron from Beit Haggai Junction a fully manned checkpoint is set up.

On the way to Negohot settler-colony, situated on top of three different hills, we see works to construct a fence around the colony. The Palestinians we have spoken with are afraid of the pandemic, but indifferent to Israel’s plan of annexation. We did not see any military on the ground. Whoever walks around without a mask and is caught by Palestinian police is fined 200 NIS. It happened to one person yesterday.

At Beit Awa, traffic flows below the army’s pillbox post and the car repair shops have plenty of work. That’s the only thing that brings out a smile under the mask.

Someone has told me that the Israeli soldiers should be afraid now of people who go crazy…

The mental state in general is beyond (far beyond) desperation. In that, we are all alike…
