Morning

.It is the third day of Eid al-Fitr. There are very few people  at the Meitar crossing.

Yusuf from Dhahariya tells us in passing that only those to whom it is very important and who have urgent jobs which need to be done go to work. He himself is going with friends to Jaffa and then to Haifa.

The whole week is problematic – there is no work. Tomorrow is Memorial Day and also Independence Day, and a closureinfo-icon has been imposed on all crossings from the West Bank into Israel. At all intersections along the way we saw jeeps with soldiers watching the road.

In Hebron we met Bassem, who lives across from Beit HaShalom (the former House of Contention), on the Zion route. He reports that the holiday passes quietly, without any special problems. At the same time, as we have already reported before, he still cannot reach his home with his car despite the fact that he has permission to travel on the Zion route. The checkpoints do not allow him to enter with a car.  That is why he must park his car up the hill, on the Palestinian side of the Beit HaShalom checkpoint. This of course creates difficulties when there are heavy loads that need to be moved.

In the Cave of the Patriarchs, there are few people.

In Tel Rumeida, the grocery owner Hamdi reports that the settlers pass by his store and do not harass him.
