The occupation and the violence are causing harm to helpless people and to a palestinian heritage site.

We met A., from Dir al Khateb, at the entrance to the village of Burin. He followed us in his car to the home of an old couple , in the outskirts of the village, which had been a permanent target for attacks by settlers from Sneh Yaakov, a settlement that grew from an illegal outpost of the settlement of Har Bracha.

The couple` house is low and does not have a wall or fence around it. The attacks have driven away their son, his wife, and their two small children. They left for Asira Al Kabliya, because of the danger to the life of their small son from the smoke grenades used by the soldiers who accompany the settlers.

The couple have no money to pay for a fence or wall to protect their life and home.  An unrealistic and expensive cost estimate of NIS 26,000 was presented by the village.  We then asked A., the owner of a building materials store in Dir Al Khateb, to see if he could provide the materials at a lower cost.

A. promised to supply all the necessary materials and lowered the price to NIS 6,000.  The couple said that they ould contribute NIS 500.  We raised NIS 1,500, but we still need another NIS 4,000.  We decided to ask anyone who could to help fulfill the widow's wish. We will be grateful for any contributions.

We thanked A. for lowering the price and left for the settlement of Alon Moreh in whose area Maqam Sheikh Bilal Ibn Rabah is imprisoned. The Maqam is hundreds of years old and the unique dome is losing a stone every day.
