Shooting in Burin
A telephone call from D.
On Friday, June 19, at approximately 7:30 pm, a large group of soldiers entered Burin and situated itself near the village’s fire station. A wedding was underway in one of the homes nearby. Guests danced and sang happily when everything was suddenly interrupted by the sound of shots from the soldiers’ weapons. The soldiers claimed children had thrown stones and they began searching the houses, creating great disorder. It was a miracle the shooting didn’t injure anyone.
