Morning

We were surprised at Barta'a Checkpoint which we reached at the usual crowded time.  There were no waiting lines, no crowding. Has the opening of the checkpoint earlier by half an hour – as the Palestinians repeatedly demanded (and the Checkpoint authorities took their time about doing it – proven effective? Time will tell. It is Ramadan time now and not everything runs as usual.

At Ya'abad-Dotan Checkpoint there is no military presence, and perhaps this is the reason for a state of "no problem".

At the Agricultural Checkpoint Tayibe-Roumana 154 below Umm al Fahm in the east, we did not spend much tie. We came late, people who had already crossed signaled to us to turn back. We still came down and were bombed out eyes and heart. Neta nearly needed resuscitation. The wonderful scenery overlooking the Jenin area including the two nearby villages of Tayibe and Roumana, and the sum rising at this time, were all hidden by a huge, mighty concrete wall. Instead of the gate in the fence dragged shut and open manually there is now an electrical gate – hermetically closed. It's good this way, says a villager from Tayibe whom we gave a ride. What does he mean?

The Agricultural Checkpoint of Anin shows preparations of the wall arriving here soon. A shuffle-dozer, truck, workers. Crossig has run without delay as far as we could see. A woman-soldier approached us to hear who we are: Peace? Never.

At Toura -Shaked Checkpoint, hardly anyone moves, as usual. The wall come up to here and apparently will continue southward.

At Shaked Colony everything is cool. Green. All the houses are stifled behind walls. We tried racism: Who are the people who call this home? Are there any Haaretz readers among them? Are they ever aware of the fact that they are living on robbed land?

Good morning, beautiful Umm Al Fahm… (Palestinian town inside Israel-proper)
