Afternoon

14:45 - 15:55

Another routine, rainy day at the checkpoints. . .

Next to the breaches in the separation fence, opposite Highway 611, Palestinian workers descend and pass by foot via the road system.  They pass through the breaches in the separation fence to the improvised parking lot at the foot of Qeiqis village and to the parking lot of the Barta’a checkpoint, next to the Palestinian side.  Today there are no police from the Shomron (Samarian) police in the area, but we saw many army vehicles on the roads.

In the parking lot on the Israeli side of Barta’a Checkpoint, workers return from Israel and from the Seamline Zone.  Taxi drivers announce passenger pick-up to Jenin and to Anin, but most of the workers go down through the long, winding sleeveinfo-icon (the enclosed passage to the terminal) via the terminal to the parking lot on the Palestinian side.

At the agricultural checkpoint, Anin, M. and his tractor didn’t go to work today. Therefore, the soldiers did not come in the afternoon because there was no one for whom to open the gatesinfo-icon to the checkpoint. It is clear to everyone that the pedestrians pass through the breaches in the adjacent fence.

At the Tura-Shaked Checkpoint, cars bring workers from their jobs in Israel and from the Seamline Zone.  They pass the checkpoint and continue to home in the West Bank.

Five Palestinian cars return from Jenin.  Passengers descend and pass the checkpoint to the Seamline Zone by foot, in wind and rain.
