Afternoon

Traffic and pedestrians moving through Anata without impediment.,  Situation unchanged at exits from Issawiyya.

Things were very quiet in Al Ezariya.  The usually mobbed streets were quite empty.  There was no obvious reason for the unusual situation.

The area en route to Wadi Nar in which so much money and effort was invested to clear out the inhabitants and prepare the site for construction remains unchanged.  Perhaps they are waiting for a more indulgent approach by the new American administration before undertaking construction.  An area further down the road was being levelled.

Wadi Nar:  There has been a definite change at Wadi Nar.  When we first went out to Wadi Nar several years ago, there were often traffic backups extending up to a kilometer and line ups of vans to pick up and deliver workers as well as buses transporting students.  It’s been months since we’ve seen any workers going back and forth, and there are scarcely any vehicles going through in either direction.  Perhaps this is yet another sign of disruption of communication and contact among Palestinians from different areas of the West Bank.
