Afternoon

14:15 – Jalama Checkpoint

We drove a boy, his mother and an additional person, a resident of Jenin, from Rambam Hospital to the checkpoint, which was quiet and empty at this early hour.  Only one car returns people from their work.  At the entrance to the site of the checkpoint, work is being done to develop the checkpoint and the gardening.

15:00 - Anin Checkpoint

The soldiers arrive and open the gate to the checkpoint on time.  About 20 people and 4 tractors pass through in a few minutes on their way home to the village of Anin.  A few people arrive later.  The checkpoint is open until 15:30, but we don’t wait for the closing.

15:20 - Tura-Shaked Checkpoint

Few pass in both directions.  An Israeli car waits for a family from the West Bank.  They meet with hugs and kisses and crowd into the car.

15:40 – Barta’a-Tura Checkpoint, the Palestinian Side

We take a hitchhiker to the checkpoint but leave him off at the entrance to the sleeveinfo-icon at the terminal because he cannot get out of our car on the Palestinian side.

There is chaos in the Palestinian parking lot. There is no attendant at this hour.  The field is full of parked cars; as well as the two improvised lots above the road.  At this hour, many are returning from work and the owners of the cars maneuver between the parked cars.  Somehow everything works out, almost without honking and yelling.  We handed over a child’s car seat to one of the drivers and returned home.
