Morning

The Operation Dove volunteers went to Italy for three weeks, and Rabbis for Human Rights approached human right organisations to replace the Italian volunteers in their twice daily accompaniment of the children of Umm Tuba and the neighbourhood on their way to their school in Tuwani, in order to prevent the settlers of Havat Maon from attacking them. So Judy and I went with a guest from Yeruham to guard the children.

Happily no settler came and the army jeep arrived on time. We were 6 adults and 6 children. Our driver, M., remained behind and, sure enough, the army jeep stopped next to him to inquire what he was doing there. It does not pay to belong to a minority.

From there we went to Susya, in order to let our guest become familiar with the problems of Palestinian Susya..
