Afternoon

Anata:  Vehicles and pedestrians proceeding without impediment in both directions.

Issawiyya:  No changes in the situation.  A “bukta”  for the military force has been set up at the exit from Issawiyya to Mount Scopus.  Vehicles still barred from passing through.

Azariah:  It appears that this place has been designated as a garbage dump.  The piles of trash, wrecked vehicles, discarded objects, and miscellaneous rubbish has found a resting place in Azariah.   Just a few years back, with the help of US Aid, the main street got a welcome facelift.  The street was widened; store fronts were redone; new, upscale shops were opened; the esplanade was planted with flowers, etc.  The street remains widened, but all else has deteriorated.  The road from Azariah leading to Wadi Naar is one big garbage heap.

The few remaining Bedouin are holding out in their diminished encampment.  There is no new building in the area alongside them.
