Morning

South, 05.01.202023 years ago on January 15th 1997 the Hebron agreement was signed between Israel and the Palestinians as part of the Oslo B agreements.  According to the agreement Hebron would be divided into two areas: H1 – 80% of Hebron which would be under the jurisdiction of the Palestinians.  The remainder, H2, which included the Jewish section of Hebron and 40% Palestinians, would remain under control of the IDF.  Netanyahu was the prime minister who signed the agreement.

This agreement is what made Hebron what it is today: The Palestinian town municipality is responsible for the maintenance of the city, even in areas where Palestinians are not allowed to cross.  They are now conducting extensive renovation under the supervision of the army and the Jewish committee of Hebron.  The soldiers are standing out in the cold guarding the workers.  During the renovations the stone pillbox in Gross square was removed.  This is part of Shuhada Street and Palestinians are not allowed to go there.  Enough of the occupation!
