Afternoon

We left in the late afternoon in consideration of the Ramadan routine. Life wakes up around noon, people come home from work early.

Indeed Meitar crossing is packed with people returning from work. The fence that was breached for a long time has been repaired. Now it has been doubled and there are manned guard posts along its length. At the Dura Al Fawwar intersection, soldiers.

Soldiers are constantly coming down from the Pillbox at irregular hours, patrolling and making surprise checkpoints mainly in the mornings and evenings. The Palestinians have to be very adaptable to survive the occupation.
People are busy shopping for the Iftar meal.

And during the hours we were walking around the area it was quiet without much presence of the army. Still tense silence.
