Morning

Meitar Checkpoint flows smoothly and there are no long delays.  Several "illegals" mostly young manage to bypass any checks. We wonder if they are looking for work or for entertainment in Israel.  Route 60, with the upcoming Passover Holiday and Ramadan shortly after, is very busy. We turn onto Route 317 which is quite lively for a change. We  meet an acquaintance from Umm al Kheir who is going to the village of Zif. He tells us about a camel who has run away and is very concerned: camels are usually only found in the Negev and Umm al Kheir is the only place in the West Bank where they are found.  They are very expensive and if the runaway gets to a road and is injured, that is both a financial loss and damaging to whoever hits him. We return to Route 60, quiet and sunny. Sometimes this shift feels like an outing, a  very dangerous illusion.
