Morning

Bethlehem Checkpoint: average transit time an hour and a quarter. Only four stations functioning. At Position 1, recurrent problems with the computer. Palestinians whose palm prints didn’t work at any position are sent to another, where all passed without difficulty. The Ecumenical delegate told us that, by the sleeveinfo-icon an especially noisy female soldier is stationed, and was replaced by a man from the civilian company who apparently functions better. As usual, only two sleeves are operating.

Jaba (Lil) Checkpoint: we arrived at a late hour (08:45) and most of the traffic had already passed through. Nevertheless, we did see cars crossing without problems. All the transients are Israeli and the cars obviously have yellow Israeli numberplates.

Etzion  DCL: no numbers were distributed, and entry is according to the list that the Palestinians prepared. We found about 40 people in the waiting room. Four men were waiting for Christian prayer permits, and one was waiting for a permit to go to Hadassah Hospital, Ein Karem. Opening of the windows was late, but once open the entry was at a respectable pace.
