Morning
General comment: Less traffic than usual.  We surmise the reason has to do with the tension surrounding the contested house in Hebron (which was indeed evacuated today at noon).

6:30 Sheikh Saed

Meticulous checks, including all papers including birthday certificates , as well as school-bags of little children.

Zeitim Crossing

Routine traffic.

Wadi Nar

The new asphalt does not lift the prevailing gloomy atmosphere.

Most of the time the traffic was flowing.  From the direction of Behtlehem, almost without checks.  Towards Bethlehem more careful checks, especially of trunks.  There were no long delays.

Many soldiers present -- our impression is that they are being trained to operate the checkpoint.  Very few military policemen. (Very likely they had been sent to Hebron to assist with the evacuation.)
