Bethlehem, Etzion DCL, Tue 19.8.08, Morning

06:30 AM, Bethlehem Checkpoint.: As usual at this CP – no lines at all on our side; impossible crowding at the Palestinian side. Last week, it was so because the soldiers were “new” to this CP. This week it was because only one turnstile was functioning, due to “technical reasons,” we were told. It was fixed only at 07:20. People said that the previous day things had not been better. One cannot but wonder how long Palestinians will be able to suffer all this.

08:20 AM,  Etzion DCL: By the time we left, at 08:45, five men were refused entrance, four of them for “security” reasons.
