Irtah checkpoint

06:45 – We have got the impression that the number of people who pass the checkpoint has increased since our last shift here at the end of May. At the turnstiles on the Palestinian side there is no line and the passage is quick. A lively traffic of workers and employer's vehicles.

Jubara

06:55 – One of the soldiers opens the gate swiftly and politely. In both directions we see no vehicles and at the Schoolchildren's Gate and at Ar-Ras there are no lines. The reservists are relaxed and polite. One of them asks us to move away, to avoid "being run over".

Anabta

07:25 – The traffic is streaming in both directions. A taxi driver asks us for help regarding a fine of IS 500.00 that he got for pushing into a line at the checkpoint. He claims he has a licence of a medical service vehicle. Following Tami's advice, we take his details and turn to Dafna who sends us to a lawyer who says that she can comment on this claim after seeing the relevant documents. We'll continue handling it later with the help of a friend who speaks Arabic since it is impossible to communicate with the driver in another language.

We got on to Beit Iba.
