Morning

7.20 Shvut Ami. We cannot see if there are settlers but drivers from Beit Iba say that lat night stones were thrown at them form the direction of the settlement and Kedumiem. They tried to complain to a soldier in a Hummer but he was not prepared to accept the complaint.

The checkpoint at Jit is open.

7.35 Beit Iba. No cars at the entrance to Nablus and two at the exit. The soldiers are busy chatting to one another and 5 cars wait but soon pass. The porters are not checked too carefully. There is no pressure of pedestrians in either direction.  The magnometer is squeaking but it seems that people are arriving with less baggage which causes this. At the entrance young people have IDs checked and one young man is sent to the side but is quickly checked. No detaineesinfo-icon. We are not prevented from standing at a place from where we can see if there are detainees.

8.30 In the line of cars exiting the city is a transit with boxed which are checked more carefully. Buses with children are not checked. All the trucks which arrive are allowed to enter but maybe those who do not have permits have stopped trying. A truck driver asks cynically if the checkpoint at Shavei Shomron is included in those which have been declared to have been freed. At 9.10 we leave.
